“sufficiently well tuned to the realities of biology”不是说“在生物学的指引下不断完善”，而是说农业技术经过不断改进已经很好地符合了生物的实际情况。跟前面那句说科学 well tuned to nature 是一样的。
I quoted some lines of Xenophanes: “And as for certain truth, no man has seen it, nor will there ever be a man who knows about the gods and about the things I mention. For if he succeeds to the full in saying what is completely true, he himself is nevertheless unaware of it, and opinion is fixed by fate upon all things.”

前一句除过certain truth 没翻确切外基本意思都还对。但第二句即使不管英文原意，中文字面的意思我觉得都是不明所以，跟前面那句的意思也不连贯。那句我的理解是，即使一个人说出的是certain truth，他自己也不知道他说的是certain truth，因为人们关于所有事物的认识都是opinion。
Google了一下，发现有几个不同的英文翻译版本。下面这个的意思就比较好理解：
“The gods did not reveal, from the beginning,
All things to us, but in the course of time
Through seeking we may learn and know things better.
But as for certain truth, no man has known it,
Nor shall he know it, neither of the gods
Nor yet of all the things of which I speak.
For even if by chance he were to utter
The final truth, he would himself not know it:

有意思的是，根据上面斯坦福网页的介绍，现在人们那段话所表达的哲学含义都还有争议。
暂时就记起这两个明显问题。
总的感觉（也可能不准确）是，你的翻译比较粗糙，基本上是见句拆句。因为我读原文时觉得温伯格的表述还是比较讲究的，他是想尽量在哲学上precise，你的翻译没能充分反映这个特点。比如前言里这句
“I chose “Discovery” instead of “Invention” to suggest that science is the way it is not so much because of various adventitious historic acts of invention, but because of the way nature is.”
【我最后选择“发现”而不是“发明”是为了说明科学之所以是现在这样并不是因为一系列历史上偶然的发明创造，而是因为自然本身就是这样】
你的翻译给人的感觉是科学的way和自然的way是一回事，而且想表达“科学反映的是certain truth”的意思。我认为作者不是那意思。science is the way it is是指科学作为一个实践的总体的现状， the way nature is 是指自然运行的规律。作者只是想suggest科学目前的样子是由自然规律（唯一地）决定了的，但并没有进一步说科学描述的就是自然规律本身。其实作者在后面紧跟着的那段话就解释了他的意思的extend。
以上个人浅见，错误难免。
