Authoritarian government combined with a rather low civilization level of the whole nation dictates that China has to rethink about nuc power.


It's not that nuc contamination is really that scary, even chernobyl killed relatively few people compared with the terror it caused, and disaster as big as that is very unlikely to happen again.

the real issue is mental pressure of nuclear contamination on ordinary people, a danger one can't see, hear, smell.

people are destined to make mistakes, no matter how much emphasis on safety and caution. some people used to praise the efficiency of china's system. it's true for certain short term events, like olympics, if ccp puts it at the highest priority, at all costs, things can be done nicely.

but not nuc power stations, even if the government always maintains the highest attentions, but it's a long term issue, they are supposed to last 50 years or even longer, sooner or later some one is going to make mistake, in advanced nations they have better system, better people to deal with errors. it's doubtful china can match that
