Provided that you produce anything you consume.

If you trade your grain for clothing on barter
basis, IRS may come.

Barter is a big loophole in tax laws and casual
barter is beyong the rwach of IRS in practice
but large sacle, or organized, or regular barter
may be step into IRS terrotory.

For example, if A give B a haircut and B help
A change engion oil, neitehr charge the other
a fee, that is a way to evade IRS tax.

Because alternatively, A should charge B
20 bucks for haircut and B should charge
A 20 bucks for changing oil. Both should
report $20 minus cost as their income.

If two exhange service without cash,
then it is barter but IRS may still
levy some taxes
