Set an arbitrary amount C for the cash/wealth you have, you can show that the more you play, the more likely you will be absorbed. Put it graphically, in the plot of cumulative winning as Y, and number of trials as X, there's a line at -C that's paralell to X-axis. Once you hit that line, game is over.
So in this sense, the large numbers actually hurts the gambler.
