Mathematician and theorist Hugh Everett III studied under John Archibald Wheeler, and proposed in 1957 the "many-worlds" interpretation for quantum physics, wherein infinite parallel alternate universes are endlessly splitting apart. Per his request, after his death in 1982 Everett's ashes were dumped in the trash.
