Setting on N (auto) and pushing clutch to the bottom (manual) is pretty much the same thing and it's something you can not possiblly NOT to do when driving a manual.

But setting on N is dangerous when you're downhill on a mountain road with lots of curves. That could be illegal, although I'm not really sure.
