Unlike crocodiles, Alligators are not supposed to attack human, because that's too large/inconvenient a target for them. They often attack dogs, so people are advised not to take dogs when they jog along lake side. That woman is a model, so she must not be too short. The family said she was depressed at the time. What happened could be she crouched near the canal, and the alligator mistaken her as a smaller animal.
However, alligators eat what they found. Once one alligator dissembled the body, others would eat the parts. In other words, the one who got caught might not be the one who attacked.
