If Hamas is very religious, the threat won't work. The only way to transform a party with strong ideology is to have "peace transformation".
If Hamas is not religious, the suicide bombing (I am not endorsing it) might ring as an alarm on how bad Isreal had treated the Arabian.

But you can not do it without stains on your name.
Of course US can destroy any small country with ease if it doesn't like it, but it will be at the expense of its fame.
In short, once you dash out such stupid word, it's not easy to have civilized solution which works (or simply a solution which works).
