魏于全 is not so secure, becuase he only faked some data/paper, if proved true.
汉芯is another story.
Chen Jin not only faked 汉芯, but made 100，000,000 RMB Y with it. With the money, he could bribe and corrupt dozens of officials, who would protect him as well as themselves from any charges. Therefore, Chen Jin is more secure, even though he might be sentenced to death or life in prison, IF he was proved guilty and IF justice were brought opon him.
That's why the media and individuals in China kept silence on 汉芯.
