If you have invest income from brokerage, banks, etc
which are located in another state than your resident state, the law and agreement between states require
that you draw a line between two states, find middle
point of teh line and see which state that middle point
falls in. You are required to pay taxes to that
middle -point state. Since physically middle-point
state may not exist (say between Hawaii and California),
IRS makup many middle -point states. They have
a table youy can look up a middle-point state
for any given two states.
A guy was once arrested in Texas because he
did not pay middle point state tax to Texas.
