It is part of the New Testament apocrypha. In AD180, Irenaeus first mentioned the Gospel of Judas saying that a group of people, a sect of Gnostic, believed that Judas had been the only one who had been informed about the secret. However, as a early Christian Bishop, Irenaeus said those people invented their own history. The significant of this founding is that there this is the first known original text exist.
