There is little benefit for US to place nuclear weapon in the space. Why? because US can luanch atomic bombs within 1000km anywhere in the world from land base, or from a plane or a submarine, therefore putting a war head in the space does not generate close to zero addittional threat to the enemy. According to SuanZhang, this means both little strategic advantage(benefit) for US and little cost to enemy.
On the other hand, if Chinese put just one war head in the space, US would be facing a threat of magnitude it has never seen in history. It will cost US dearly to mitigate such risk. Strategically, this means both big cost to US and big benefit for CHina.
That will shut them all up.
