As a professor he would look stupid by repeating what everyone says. Everyone is Chinese government suppresses free press. Now this view of him is in the opposite direction, something that is very new. Whether his argument is convincing or not will depend on facts he collected and his reasoning. He should not use "mafia" though. Even a professor can't avoid using analogy, a shame indeed.
