Typically, there is a term limitation for Postdocs. Some schools may have 3 year limit; others may have 5 years. Once one has been Postdoc postion longer than the limit and s/he still couldn't find an academic or industrial position, the boss has to change this person's title if the boss wants him/her to stay. That's why there are different titles for such type, such as Project Scientist, Research Scientist, Senior Scientist, Research Fellow, Research Assistant Professor, etc.
What I am saying is not to undermine Dr. Zhao's ability or accomplishments. Just want to clarify the facts. As far as how to translate to Chinese, that's a different issue, which also depends on personal favors.
