Not that MANY (though there are) African countries are richer than China.

回答: 马来西亚是用来作非洲国家的还是“中国人以为人家很穷,但实际不然”的例子? 由 Enlighten 于 2006-3-03, 09:52:57:

Skimming the rough figures I found, there are only 3 major African countries (South Africa, Libya and Algeria) have GDP per capita higher than China. Maybe I missed some small or those not very famous, but just a bit below (30 ranks below China and $3000 less in terms of level)--those MIGHT catch up/or not very statistically different due to measurment error+data of different years for different countries etc if you are trying hard to find negative evidence against China, I spot Swaziland, Morocro, Egypt. Still, not that many. Other big or "visible" African countries: Tonga, Angola, Mauritania, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Uganda, Cote d'Ivoire, Rwanda, Chad, Mozambique, Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, Madacasgar, Ethiopia, Niger, 2 Congos, Zambia. Among those countries, except for the first few have roughly 1/3 of China's GDP per capita. Starting from Mozambique, the ratio is about 1/5. The countries lagged behing China or those roughly on par, I estimated, would be about at least 60% of the lands of Africa (notice those included very large country in the African scale: Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Morocro, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Niger, Chad. Or very populated states like Nigeria).

And notice the wealthy African countries might be islands and great tax havens. That's why they are rich (not because of their own merits).

Come on, China has problems. But Africa is facing greater ailments: AIDS and war, to start with. And while China is depending on the combination of cheap labor and exploitative use (inefficient use) of natural resource (energy and raw material), Africa is primarily depends on the exports of raw material. This posts a bigger problem than China: it has nearly no industrialization foundation. Its fortune depends on luck (though these days, they are in good luck as the material is bid up). Corruption is also a big problem. Like Zimbabwe, a country with great natural endowment (nice argriculture condition).

But of course, you can blame colonization. You can blame local. The reason deserves a longer article. But before doing any analysis, do some homework first.
