A little piece in the NYT weekend magazine caught my eyes. It is about orange, specifically, the orange juice--Tang, the juice of space time.

Most people who are old enough to remember things in the later 1980s and earlier 1990s will know this orange product.

Under the Li's pen, the story of Tang is touching. My old memories flash back vividly. It is a life most Americans are not familiar, even a little bit exotic.

So it is amazing and also admiring for Li to recount the story, not in Chinese, but in English, and not in an obscure journal, but in the New York Time.

Li has published many short stories in well respected literal journals such as the New Yorker and The Paris Review. She has won several prizes including the grand prize of Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award--€50,000.
