Stilwell didn't like Chiang either. He saw Chiang or KMT as whole was ineffective. Perhaps he was too much an army general than a diplomat. Patton was kind of like that but worse than Stilwell. That is why Patton was never pass the rank of general, and Eisenhower, Bradley who was one time served under Patton and later became Patton's superior, were all ended up passing Patton to be promoted to the rank of General of the Army.
