carcass does create more damage. Typical FAA bird test, when chickens are used, are thawed but de-frozen before using. Some engineers may prefer to buy chickens with feathers from the supermarket. The Air Force used to test with frozen chicken and shooting it at around 800 km/h to jet fighters' canopies. Lately I heard most people use ballistic gel, it is less messy.
