states the laws are not exactly the same, they are very close. When things like that happen, Police or Sheriff office will investigate, i.e. the police will following police procedures to interview both parties, eyewitnesses, file reports, ... If they determine there is not crime, they will close the case. Like what happened to Chenney case. He and those people at the scene got interviewed by the local sheriff, and police report had been filed, a the case closed.
