During the debate on the spelling of Peking or Beijing for Beijing University, some netters asked and argued perhaps we should first of all get it clear how to spell our names correct. So instance, should 加新贴 be spelled as Jia Xin Tie or Jia Xin-tie or Jia Xinite of Xintie Jia, etc. To me, those who ask such kind of questions didn't pay a single attention to the regulation of Chinese name romanization at all. People are not aware of the existence of regulations and laws. The legislation on the other hand did not make enough effort to make the citizens know of those regulations and laws either.
Look around, how many people would look for information by themselves, rather than asking colleagues first without even thinking. The references might be just inches away, but they magically become non existent.
