The city of Beijing lifted the restriction on fireworks for lunar new year after the firewarks had been banned for a number of years in areas within the 3rh ring road in Beijing. People just couldn't take it anymore.

The central government abandoned the use day light saving time a few years ago, after it had been used since 1985. It was reportedly caused more trouble than benefits.

In the history, the Chinese medicine was banned several times, but it's all failed. People today, including many educated people still believe tooth ache or bleeding was a result of "fire-gas" or "internal-heat", while the truth is its mostly caused by gum desease.

The lunar calendar was also banned in the history by the central government, as in Japan and Korea. But that effort also failed.

When people this time target at the old, obsolete spelling of Peking for Beijing for the name of Beijing University, we see the resisance, as consistent as before.
