I was an editor of Asian Journal of Mathematics from 1997 to 2006. On 1 September 2006 I resigned as an editor because AJM seldom gets submissions in my research area, and I did not want to be embroiled in any controversy concerning papers that were outside my area of expertise. Unfortunately my resignation has been interpreted by some people as a criticism of AJM. This interpretation is unwarranted and no more should be read into my resignation than what I have stated above.
