If you want to use it as a so called consumer product, please use a distribution, such as Fedora Core, Mendrake, ...
There are free personal versions without support, there are also fully supported commercial versions. if you happen to have a chance to attend a vxworks seminar, are they talking about vxworks? they are talking about linux.
