Yoda could very well meant the hope was Anakin. One thing is worth noting that, After Anakin turned to the darkside, Obi-Wan wanted to destroy him. He had a hope to see Anakin becoming the greatest Jedi who would bring balance to the Force, and yet Anakin joined the Darkside. Yoda warned that Jedi might have misinterpreted the prophecy. It turns out that Anakin did bring balance to the Force, by eliminating most of Jedis and Siths.
As for R2 to C-3PO, it is really interesting. After erasing the memory, is C-3PO the C-3PO R-2 once knows?
